Daytime bike ride, canoe trip, or sailing excursion.
Depending on who shows up and what folks are interested in, we’ll set-off on an adventure seeking out some good old-fashioned fun! If we are successful, everyone will return to the beach-house feeling a bit tuckered-out, happy, and ready for some more good times. |

Beach House Party (6 pm)
We’re renting a sweet beach house in Niantic for the week leading up to the wedding (photos). It will serve as a gathering place and hub for hanging out during the festivities. On Wednesday night we’ll take advantage of the “adjoining exclusive private beach property with cabana and firepit” for a BBQ party on the beach! We’ll bring some basics for the grill but feel free to complement these with whatever you like to eat. Since there are neighbors overlooking the beach, this will be a “campfire & acoustic guitar” gathering rather than a “drum-circle and bonfire” event. Lora, you’re still on for the fire-poi!
Location:
The beach house is located at 70 Prospect St. and the beach access is at 22 Shore Rd, just a block away.
What to bring:
- Anything you may want to grill on the BBQ. We’ll have some basics but you may want to bring your favourite as well.
- Swimsuit (or not…)
- Beach toys
- Towel
- Fire poi, acoustic guitar, games, etc.

Lakeside fun at the Yale OEC on Powers Lake (11am – 5pm)
We encourage folks to join us for a relaxing and casual afternoon at Powers Lake. We’re renting a pavilion at the Yale Outdoor Education Center, stoking up the barbeque, and inviting people to come and go as they please. The OEC is the only building on the lake and should provide a great base camp for a variety of fun summer activities: hiking, swimming, horseshoes, volleyball, canoeing, kayaks, and even ping pong (photos).
We’ll have food there for everyone.
Location:
The Yale OEC is at 298 Upper Pattagansett Road in East Lyme, CT.
What to bring:
- Swimsuit
- Towel
- Sunscreen
- Frisbee, games, cards, etc.

Movie Night at Grassy Hill (8:30 pm)
Julie’s grandpa has all sorts of fun toys up in Lyme. One of them is an LCD projector. We’ll be hooking that bad boy up outside and watching a movie on what will hopefully be a beautiful summer night. We’ll come with several options and the group can decide exactly what to watch. In the event of in-climate weather, we’ll move the party into the barn.
(NOTE: We've moved this event to the neighbor's barn in case of inclimate weather. It's a nice barn that is only a short walk away and he holds house concerts in it regularly).
Location:
The souped-up barn of Grassy Hill neighbor Tom Neff.
Meet at Julie's grandparent's:
359 Grassy Hill Rd, Lyme, CT
What to bring:
- Blanket or lawn chair to sit-on
- A sweater in case it gets cold
- A DVD if there’s a specific movie you’d like to watch
- Flashlight if you'd like to take a walk and explore Grassy Hill afterwards
