Family time in the morning

Adam & Julie will spend time with their respective families on Friday morning.  We want to take advantage of having everyone in one place to spend some quality time together.

Congregate at the beach (1 pm)

After lunch, starting around 1pm on Friday afternoon, we will all congregate back at the beach house in Niantic (photos) and take advantage of its “adjoining exclusive private beach property with cabana and firepit”. Plans include swimming, reading, some spontaneous games and good conversation.  The wedding party will head off to the rehearsal at the Church at around 4pm but that’s not a reason for the fun to stop. We’d suggest ordering some pizzas from Bobby D’s right around the corner - or heading to the Hamburg Fair!

Adam & the wedding party will return to the beach house after the rehearsal dinner & keep the party hoping with a dessert party. Please promise not to keep Adam up too late!

Location:
The beach house is located at 70 Prospect St. and the beach access is at 22 Shore Rd, just a block away.

What to bring:

  • Swimsuit
  • Beach toys
  • Sunscreen
  • Towel
  • Cash for pizzas

horse   Hamburg Fair (5 pm - 11 pm)

The Hamburg Fair is a wonderful little county fair that Julie's family has been going to for years and that Adam & Julie visited in 2006. This little shindig is famous in San Francisco as the place where Adam discovered D-Train's hot sauce ("Your Caboose Won't Know What Hit It!"). The stellar schedule of events includes horse and tractor pulls, karate demonstrations, vegetable and handicraft competitions (Best in Show $5 PRIZE!), and live country music – not to mention glorious fair food and carnival attractions.

When deciding what date we should get married we literally e-mailed the organizers of the Hamburg Fair to see if we could have our wedding on the same weekend. The fact that 8/16/08 is also a very "auspicious" date sealed the deal.

Friday is the first day of the fair and the festivities kick-off at 5pm with some pony pulls and live music until 11pm.

Saturday is the main day with a full day of activities from 9am until 11pm. Sunday is the last day of the fair and it'll be going until around until 6pm.

Rehearsal dinner at Abbott's (6 pm)

The wedding party and immediate family will celebrate having successfully rehearsed at Abbott’s Lobster in the Rough (photos).

Abbott’s is a great lobster restaurant right by the water in Noank, CT. It’s simple, with picnic tables and cutlery, but the food there is delicious and the atmosphere is great (as long as the seagulls don’t steal your meal!). Going there is has been a yearly tradition for Julie’s family and we’re excited you’ll have a chance to experience this fun place with us!

Please make sure to let us know whether you’ll want to eat lobster, chicken or vegetarian on your RSVP.

Our Moms (Susan Medina & Anne Menter) are in charge of the event. Contact them if you want to organize anything in particular for the evening.

Location:
Abbott’s is located at 117 Pearl St in Noank, CT.
If the parking at Abbott’s parking lot is full, you can park at Costello’s. It’s 2 driveways down the street from Abbott’s.

What to bring:

  • Any photos, stories and speeches you may want to share with us. Please contact our Moms who are coordinating this.

Dessert party at the beach house (9 pm)
Folks are on their own for dinner - but save room for dessert! The crew in the beach house in Niantic is going to host a fun gathering for everyone who is in town on Friday night. The house (which is not actually ON the beach) has a HUGE front lawn and plenty of space in the back - perfect spot for congregating and chatting.

After the rehearsal dinner (around 9:30pm), Adam & the wedding party will join the fun. Julie will most likely go get some beauty sleep before the big day.

Location:
The beach house is located at 70 Prospect St.

What to bring:

  • A good attitude and some stories to tell.
